The European market leader in customised procedure trays, Mölnlycke Health Care, is proud to announce the delivery of its 20-millionth ProcedurePak® tray. The tray, produced at Mölnlycke Health Care's plant in the Czech Republic, was presented to the Clinique Saint-Luc in Bouge (Namur), Belgium by Eric De Kesel, President Surgical Division of Mölnlycke Health Care. The Clinique Saint-Luc was one of the first users of ProcedurePak trays in Europe, starting 10 years ago.

Mölnlycke Health Care has produced procedure trays at its Karvina plant in the Czech Republic for the past 10 years. “We have grown from an annual production of 73,000 trays 10 years ago to 3.5 million trays in 2011,” says Eric De Kesel, President Surgical Division. “Besides this volume growth, the market has also become more complex. We have the expertise and knowledge to process 12,000 different trays including 5,000 unique components in our Karvina plant, and every month 100 new customised configurations are added to the portfolio. Our 20-millionth tray in 10 years’ time is a milestone for us and for our loyal customers, who have grown with us in this market. Every six seconds a customer in an operating theatre somewhere in Europe opens one of our customised procedure trays.”
Mölnlycke Health Care's production unit in Karvina is comprised of 600 well-trained and motivated employees, who work in small teams on modular production lines, ensuring the quality of the ProcedurePak trays. The customised trays that are produced at Karvina meet the relevant regulatory requirements, including the use of 40 different local languages. Mölnlycke Health Care is one of the few vendors to assume full responsibility for the conformity of its customised procedure trays which are approved to include a range of Class III components.

The Clinique Saint-Luc in Bouge has used ProcedurePak trays for a decade. Myriam Pietroons, O.R. Chief Nurse, acknowledges the considerable time and efficiency gained in the O.R. through the use of ProcedurePak trays, and underscores the importance of the hospital's long-standing relationship with Mölnlycke Health Care. “We have over these 10 years always been able to count on top-quality trays. But we appreciate as much the relationship with the Mölnlycke Health Care experts, who team with us to review ProcedurePak composition, react adequately when issues arise, provide excellent support and help us achieve our goals here in the O.R.”

By switching from the traditional preparation of operating room supplies to ProcedurePak customised procedure trays, hospitals cut preparation time for surgical procedures by up to 50 percent and free up time to focus on patient care, staff training and coaching, or for additional procedures. ProcedurePak trays contain all single-use material required for a particular surgical intervention, replacing a large number of individually packaged items.
